Task Management
Tasks are the core building blocks of your project. Create, assign, and track work with rich fields, subtasks, and powerful filters.
Creating Tasks
There are several ways to create a task:
- Click the + button at the top of any board column
- Press C anywhere on the board to open the quick-create dialog
- Use the Create Task button in the header
- Create tasks programmatically via the API
Task Fields
Every task supports the following fields:
- Title — a short summary of the work (required)
- Description — rich text with formatting, images, and file attachments
- Assignee — one or more team members responsible for the task
- Labels — color-coded tags for categorization (e.g., bug, feature, docs)
- Priority — Urgent, High, Medium, Low, or No Priority
- Due date — a deadline; overdue tasks are highlighted in red
- Story points — estimate effort for sprint planning and velocity tracking
- Status — automatically set based on the board column
Subtasks
Break large tasks into smaller, actionable subtasks. Subtasks appear as a checklist on the parent task and can be individually assigned and tracked. A progress bar shows completion percentage.
- Open a task
- Click Add Subtask
- Enter the subtask title
- Optionally assign an owner and set a due date
Bulk Operations
Select multiple tasks to perform bulk actions:
- Move — move selected tasks to a different column or project
- Assign — set assignee for all selected tasks
- Label — add or remove labels in bulk
- Priority — update priority for all selected tasks
- Delete — permanently remove selected tasks
To select tasks, hold ⌘ (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows/Linux) and click each task, or use ⌘+A to select all visible tasks.
Filters
Use the filter bar above the board to narrow down visible tasks:
- Assignee — show tasks assigned to specific people
- Label — filter by one or more labels
- Priority — show only certain priority levels
- Due date — overdue, due this week, due this month, or a custom range
- Search — free-text search across task titles and descriptions
Filters can be saved and shared with your team for quick access.
